Mr. J is sad because...

12/31/2014

Mr. J was really sad that 2014 is ending.
He had so much fun is 2014.  Even though 2014 had to leave before he could meet 2015, Mr. J does not want to meet 2015.

Maybe Mr. J already figured out that growing up is no fun...

Or maybe Mr. J equated 2015 with the end of vacation in HI.  He had so much fun in HI with everybody.  He is pre-missing grandpa and grandma, and requesting another vacation to start on 1/3/15 to last a year and a half.

The more the merrier

Mr. J really likes to be with people.  Since the family reunion in Gloucester, Mr. J has been fond of saying, "I want to go back to boston to stay at the same house with the same people."  He actually started being sad hours before leaving grandpa and grandma in Honolulu.  He cried on the plane, saying "I want to go back."

Then we had grandpa and grandma over - they found out about Mr. J's summer vacation and immediately booked tickets to come help with childcare.  Such a blessing!  Mr. J was so happy to introduce grandpa to Minecraft, and "zombify" his own photo.  Mr. J then went to Hawaii with mommy and grandpa and grandma to attend Ggrandma S's funeral.  After a couple of weeks with everyone, it was time to leave.  Mr. J wanted to turn the plane around.

Gong and Po came next, followed by Uncle J.  Each time, Mr. J treated everyone as if the live in the house full time.  He just loves to be with people.  The more the merrier.

Papa Troll?!?!

Mr. J.'s newest favorite show:

Paw Patrol

Social little guy

Mommy and daddy hosted a get-together, with two other families who we have not seen since last summer (and 10 years before that).  Mr. J hardly knew the 5 kids [5 (boy),7 (girl) ; 7x2 (twin girls), 13 (boy)] who came, but had a lot of fun playing with them.  Towards the end, the girls got rowdy, and Mr. J. was playing with Duplos with daddy.  Mommy wondered if Mr. J. would feel left out, but when the kids left, Mr. J cried, "I wish every day was like today!"

What does Mr. J. cry over these days?

Popped balloon

Mr. J's daddy stood in a long line for the balloon twister, while Mr. J. jumped in the jump house.
Mr. J. asked for a blue light saber.  It had a black handle and was expertly made.
Mr. J. promptly dropped it on the ground - the wind blew it away and Mr. J. did not manage to catch it before it got blown into some blades of grass and popped...
Some bystander said, "Poor kid."  Mr. J. burst out crying...

Wet bed

Mr. J. is trying to get off pull-ups at night.
Mr. J. wets his bed once in a while (OK, a while is up for interpretation)
Mr. J. wets daddy and mommy's bed too (Mr. J. usually gets to sleep there during the first half of the night with mommy.  When daddy gets ready to go to bed, he will take Mr. J. to his room)
Mommy gave Mr. J. ultimatum - he would be banned if he peed on daddy and mommy's bed again.
Mr. J. was banned for a night after the last incident as the last warning
Mr. J. peed in his bed Sunday morning at six something.  Woke daddy and mommy up and did not fall back asleep again.
Mr. J. came into daddy and mommy's room Monday morning at 7 after mommy went to work.  He fell asleep, and woke up at 8:45, after peeing in daddy and mommy's bed.

Mommy's text, "How come he didn't fall back asleep yesterday.  Peed in our bed again?  He's banned."
Daddy's, "Yeah he was crying about that this morning."

It takes forever to count to infinity

Mr. J. makes a random remark in the car, "it will take forever to count to infinity."
"Nobody has counted to infinity before..."

Daddy and mommy were pretty stunned.  Forever equals infinite time.  We just haven't thought about it that way.  Children do have an amazing ability to connect things.

Mr. J. is special because...

Mr. J was asked to fill out the yellow paper with several questions for his birthday celebration at school, including why he is special.

Mr. J had grandpa write on the yellow paper: It is my birthday today

Ms. G: We all know it is your birthday, Mr. J.  Why else are you special?
Mr. J: ...(thinking} ...  Because I give my mommy and daddy hugs everyday.
Ms. G : Is that so?
Mommy: .... eh ...  I suppose.... (still pondering how giving hugs makes one special)

Ms. T:  Mr. J always listens, and Mr. J. always raises his hand to speak.  We wish we have more obedient students like Mr. J.  The other kids never have to tell on Mr. J.

Ms. G: Mr. J. almost always has the right answer.  He gets upset when he gets it wrong.  He would not raise his hand if he is not sure but would ask afterwards.

Mommy and daddy are  proud of Mr. J.  So are grandpa and grandma.

Mommy will be proud of Mr. J. no matter what Ms. G and Ms. T say or think.
Mommy thinks Mr. J is special enough being Mr. J.  He does not need to be perfect for others.

(Mommy also secretly wishes that Mr. J is more thick-skinned...)

Directional pad plus other vocabulary (orig 5/4/14)

In the car going home, "Did you need to use the directional pad when you came to the new house for the first time?" (GPS)

"What fighting tools are there in mine craft?"  (Weapons)

3/14/15 update: at a computer store, Mr. J. Wants to get a typing board for the iPad.
